How to legalise a document
Legalisation is not necessary in order to validate any document to be used in the UK. The policy of HMG is to discourage its practice. It is also government policy to make and adhere to treaties for the abolition or simplification of legalisation.
Legalisation of documents for use in countries other than the UK
This process is carried out by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and not by the High Commission. Applicants can send their documents directly to:

The British High Commission in Belmopan can assist you by forwarding your documents for processing. Applicants will need to submit:
- covering letter with contact details (name, address, email address and phone number);
- document to be legalised; and
- a fee of Bz$120.25 (£37) is payable per document.
Before sending the document it is important that you contact the relevant embassy to ensure that the correct procedures are being taken with each document to meet the country's requirements.
